The amazing Arthur Adams drawing my two favorite characters of the book going against Seth. I had a great time on this cover and Art's run on the book. I also was lucky enough to work with him on Jonni Future. I hear that he does not like colorist too much, which is a shame, as I know I love him!
I wonder if that means the inker in Adams is too in love with the black or he feels he’s been burned by colorists.
Probably a bit of both. I know he didn't hate my colors, and on Jonni Future the Editor translated comments to me, saying he loved it. I think he has a style and would prefer flat colors that didn't hurt his lighting. So many times colorist do too much.
Will restraint come with experience? Adams’ work is certainly already “lit” (especially the finished pieces in his annual sketchbooks), so it doesn’t need all the bells and whistles. Your colors here are definitely working with rather than against the line art.
